On June 3rd, the massive North Rockland High School cafeteria was transformed into an intimate setting for recognition and celebration. This was the sixth annual reception for the twelve winners of $1, 000 each awarded annually by the North Rockland Teachers Association. The scholarship program is open to all NRHS graduates. Recipients are selected based on an essay in which students reflect on NRTA members who have had significant impacts on their lives. At the reception students read their essays and the honored NRTA members come forward to receive a copy. Robin Brennan, NRTA president, addressed parents, guardians, grandparents, winning students and honored NRTA members at this gathering. She shared with the audience that while the North Rockland Teachers Association has had a long history of giving back to the community, to her this remains the most inspirational night of the year. Mrs.Kathleen Mundt pushed me to take risks and has always believed in me, in everything I have done. A great credit goes to her for all the inspiration and belief she gave to me. Danielle Piperato .
